As a prosthodontist in Rapid City SD, here is how we can help with your other oral health concerns:
We are a skilled implant dentist and capable of restoring any dental implants that have become damaged. The tooth portion of your implant is susceptible to becoming damaged just like a natural tooth is. Therefore, if you are in a car accident, have a sports injury, etc. you may find yourself in need of a restoration and the services of a cosmetic dentist. As a veneers dentist in Rapid City SD, we can also restore your natural teeth using solutions like dental veneers. Those that have more extensive damage to a natural tooth, may need dental crowns instead. A crown is a cap that surrounds the tooth entirely in order to prevent anything from touching it. This ensures that the tooth can withstand the pressure from constant chewing and biting, even if it has been damaged or weakened. Dr. Cooley can create the crown out of a tooth-colored material, the same as dental veneers, so that it looks entirely natural once placed into the mouth. To find out which dental prosthetics can be used to improve your teeth, schedule a dental exam.
As a dentures dentist in Rapid City SD, Dr. Cooley can also create a perfect fitting set of dentures to replace teeth that have been missing. Given his additional training in dental prosthetics, he can ensure that they are natural looking and comfortable. This makes dentures a viable solution for restoring missing teeth.
For those experiencing jaw pain or headaches, Dr. Cooley is also a TMJ dentist Rapid City SD and can help to provide immediate relief from discomfort.
- Implant Crowns
- Inlays and Onlays
Implant restorations can vary from a single implant, “abutment”, and crown to several implants that support a removable denture to additional implants that support a screw and cement retained arch of teeth. Cases where implants are being considered need to be carefully evaluated. It is critical to place implant(s) in the ideal location and proper alignment. Implant overdentures usually have a rubber or nylon attachment device that periodically requires maintenance.
Inlays and Onlays
Inlays and onlays are often referred to as partial crowns. They use the existing tooth as a base and fit the inlay or onlay onto the tooth. This is done to strengthen the tooth, restore its shape, and prevent further damage. An inlay is done when there is no damage to the cusps of the tooth and the inlay can be placed right on the tooth. An inlay is used when the damage is a little more extensive.
The decayed area of the tooth is first removed during the procedure. A mold of the tooth is then taken and sent to a dental lab. They create a restoration made from porcelain, gold, or a composite resin. The restoration takes about 2-3 weeks to make, so a temporary inlay or onlay will be placed on the tooth for that time. During your next visit the inlay or onlay will be placed into your mouth and set with cement. Your tooth will look natural and you or anyone else won’t be able to tell the difference.
We offer overdentures installation at our offices.
